Normal, IL --- The Twin City Toros (0-1) dropped their season opener to the BNBA 16U Gold by a score of 12-2 at Normal Community West High School.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 4th when the Gold plated 4 runs. The Gold added 3 more runs in the 5th to increase the score to 7-0.
The Toros scored 2 runs in the sixth. Kendall Warner led off the inning with a double deep to RC. After a walk to Noah Johnson, Bryce Hendren hit a RBI single to LF scoring Warner. Noah Larsen drove in the second Toro run with a triple down the right field line scoring Hendren.
The BNBA Gold added one more run in the sixth and four more in the seventh to make the final score 12-2.
Starting Toro pitcher McLean Conklin pitched 3 scoreless innings for the Toros. Conklin allowed 1 hit, 2 walks and struck out 4 Gold batters.
The Toros offense managed 6 hits. Hendren was 2-3 with a run scored. Conklin, Warner, Larsen and Parker Schaab recorded the other 4 Toro hits. Evan Jefferson walked three times. The Toros stranded 11 batters.
The Toros return to action Friday June 8th in LeRoy at the Diamond in the Rough College Exposure Tournament vs. the Indiana Revolution at 3:00 pm and the Northern Illinois Reds at 5:30. The Tournament concludes on Sunday.
