LeRoy -- The Twin City Toros were only two runs down to the Decatur Commodores heading into the top of the sixth. The Toros left the inning down 11 as the visiting Commodores plated 8 runs on 9 hits.
The Commodores drew first blood in the second inning against Toro starting pitcher Brian Zimmerman. Decatur scored 4 runs in the frame and banged out 3 extra base hits.
The Toros cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning. CF Noah Johnson led off with a double to right center. Noah Larsen then took the next pitch down the left field line for an RBI triple scoring Johnson. A Sam Arvik RBI single cut the Commodores lead to 4-2. Toro 1B Adam Hoerner then rocketed a shot up the middle that was snagged by the Decatur pitcher which turned into the double play, killing the Toros rally.
Toro starting pitcher Brian Zimmerman then retired the next 9 of 11 batters he faced. The Toros added a run in the bottom of the 5th. CF Sam Arvik doubled. An error by the Decatur SS on an Evan Jefferson ground ball plated Arvik to cut the score to 5-3.
The Commodore sixth inning gave them all they needed for the mercy rule. Final score 14-3.
